Instrument Rating Theory
The Instrument Rating Theory (IFR) courses cover the full NZCAA syllabus (AC 61) for the theory portion of an Instrument Rating. IFR Law, IFR Flight Navigation, and IFR Instruments and Navaids. Meteorology and Human Factors are covered in the CPL courses for CPL pilots. For pilots with a PPL licence you can do the new IFR - Operational Knowledge course. All courses include short tests and practice exams to prepare you for the NZCAA Exams.
IFR
Air Law
This course covers the AC 61 Subject 52 - IFR Air Law (Aeroplane and Helicopter) syllabus for New Zealand pilots. Aviation Services Ltd - ASL (a division of Aspeq Ltd) is contracted by the NZ CAA to conduct the examinations. This subject includes Privileges and Limitations, Documentation and Aircraft Maintenance, and General Operating Requirements (Part 91). All Sections have practice questions that provide instant feedback and we have Sample Test papers that you can practice.

Flight Navigation
This course covers the AC 61 Subject 54 - IFR Navigation syllabus for New Zealand pilots. Sections include Chart Reading , Enroute Diversion Calculations, and GNSS Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Each section of the syllabus can be reviewed in any order - no requirement to complete parts of the course or finish exams before you can move on. This course covers the AC 61 Subject 53 - IR Operational Knowledge syllabus for New Zealand pilots. This subject and exam is for PPL holders who wish to get an instrument rating. It covers all subjects including Meteorology and Human Factors syllabus items. Pilots that hold a CPL Licence cover Met and Human Factors in the CPL theory exams.
